Weird Words: Macrology

MACROLOGY (n) (from Greek)—It sounds like it could be a biological science or a form of computer programming, but it really means "the act of talking at length". In other words, a macrologist is a bore.

I certainly feel duty bound, at this juncture, to defend myself against the possibility, albeit extremely remote, that one might consider, notwithstanding the obvious absurdity of such a contention, applying such a nomen to my good self, with particular reference to the verbosity inclined, on occasion, to manifest itself within this very missive, insofar as...Pardon?...Oh, do excuse me.
